Sales Agent
A sales agent represents a film to buyers across territories, using a mandate from the producer to license rights on the film behalf.
A sales agent lines up territorial distributors, negotiates minimum guarantees, and helps position a film in the market, often introducing it at film markets and festivals. The producer grants the agent a defined mandate that sets the scope and terms of that authority.
A sales agent is distinct from a distributor, which acquires rights for a specific territory or platform and handles the actual release to audiences. Some films work with both.
