How CineComps™ market comparables work
Every offering can display cohort-level performance ranges for projects with a similar model, genre, budget band, and distribution approach.
Cohorts, not cherry-picks
CineComps groups historical projects into cohorts by format, genre, budget band, distribution approach, and incentive structure — then reports cohort-level ranges and medians rather than hand-picked success stories.
What the numbers mean
A comp like “sub-$5M festival-first dramas — 2.4x median equity return” describes the cohort’s historical median, not a prediction for any specific offering. Dispersion in film is wide: cohorts contain both write-offs and breakouts.
The honest disclaimer
Comps are illustrative diligence framing. Past cohort performance does not predict any individual project’s results, and you should never invest on comps alone — read the offering’s own terms, team, and risk factors.
